APS Helps Community College District Save $2.7 Million in Electricity Costs

More businesses are finding out that their electric company is a great resource for innovative energy saving advice and incentives.  And these partnerships are paying off for everyone.

A great efficiency example comes from Phoenix, where Maricopa County Community College District met with Arizona Public Service Company (APS) for help in managing its energy bills.  The school earned utility rebate checks totaling more than $270,000 for energy efficient motors, lighting, and other equipment.

The efficient appliances are expected to save the Maricopa $2.7 million in electricity costs over its operating life.  According to APS, the energy saved is enough to power 83 homes, and in terms of carbon dioxide reduction, is equivalent to taking 2,944 cars off the road.
