EEI President Tom Kuhn's Comments on New Fuel Efficiency Labels

 (Wednesday, May 25, 2011) -
Following are comments today by Edison Electric Institute (EEI) President Tom Kuhn on new fuel economy labels for model year 2013 passenger cars and trucks.

"The new fuel economy labels are a giant step forward in providing consumers with the information they want when buying cars, and when you do the math, electric vehicles surpass all others. For the first time, consumers will have more complete information on vehicles' annual fuel costs and environmental impacts. And those shopping for new cars or trucks can be confident in the labels, because the federal government has taken a fuel-neutral approach that establishes a level playing field for all types of vehicles - those powered by gasoline, electricity, natural gas and other alternative fuels."
