EEI Encourages the Senate to Confirm Andrew Wheeler to Serve as EPA Administrator

WASHINGTON (February 25, 2019) - Edison Electric Institute (EEI) President Tom Kuhn today issued the following statement in support of confirming Acting Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Andrew Wheeler to serve as EPA Administrator.

"EEI encourages Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Senate to move forward and confirm Andrew Wheeler as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency. Acting Administrator Wheeler brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the agency. Importantly, he recognizes the vital role of our industry and the progress that electric companies have made to reduce their impact on the environment.

"EEI's member companies are leading a clean energy transformation, and Acting Administrator Wheeler understands the importance of maintaining a diverse energy mix and keeping electricity prices low for all customers during this transition. EEI looks forward to continuing to work with him and his team as they strive to provide more certainty to regulated entities and to protect human health and the environment. We urge the Senate to vote to confirm Acting Administrator Wheeler without delay.”
