EEI uses targeted advertising strategies to communicate with policymakers, financial audiences, and the public.
Thank You to Utility Emergency Workers for Restoration Efforts After Hurricane Irene
On August 27, 2011, Hurricane Irene made landfall in North Carolina and continued on a devastating path to New England. This epic storm, with a punishing combination of wind and water, left almost 9 million people without power. The electric power industry's mutual assistance network quickly went to work, with as many as 50,000 utility workers from states as far away as Colorado, and helped restore electricity to everyone affected by the hurricane. This print ad, thanking the utility workers, appeared in The Hill and Politico.
EEI's Smart Climate Policy Campaign
EEI ran print advertising in Washington D.C. publications encouraging the U.S. Senate to take the next step on climate legislation. The ad urged the U.S. Senate to include strong consumer protections such as reasonable emissions reductions targets and timetables, allocation of emissions allowances, and a collar on the price of emissions allowances.
EEI Ads Welcoming President-Elect Obama and the New Congress
EEI ran advertising to welcome President-elect Obama and the new Congress to Washington. The ads targeted the country's new leaders and delivered our messages about energy efficiency, low carbon generation, PHEVs, and smart grid. Print ads appeared in The Hill, National Journal, Politico, and Roll Call. In addition, we placed billboards at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
2008 Presidential Convention Advertising
As part of our ongoing efforts to communicate with key leaders around the country, EEI sponsored advertising during the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in National Journal's Convention Daily. Our ads promoted the importance of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs).
