WASHINGTON (March 05, 2025) — The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Board of Directors today presented Duke Energy Chair and CEO Lynn J. Good with the Thomas A. Edison Legacy Award in recognition of her decades of service to the electric power industry and her leadership in advancing solutions and policies to benefit electricity customers across the country. The award was presented during EEI’s March board of directors and chief executives meeting. Good has announced that she will retire from Duke Energy on April 1.
Among her many accomplishments, Good served as EEI chair from June 2018 to June 2019. During this time, she led industry efforts to establish an enduring customer-centric focus for EEI member electric companies that prioritizes safety, reliability, and affordability.
“Lynn Good’s leadership and focus on improving customers’ experiences with their electric companies has left a lasting impact on EEI and our member companies,” said EEI Chair Maria Pope, president and CEO of Portland General Electric. “I congratulate Lynn on her remarkable career and her unwavering dedication to keeping our industry and our customers at the forefront of innovation and change.”
“EEI and our member electric companies are grateful to Lynn for helping our industry identify new solutions and approaches to enrich the customer experience and better serve the hundreds of millions of Americans who depend on us to power their daily lives,” said EEI Interim President and CEO Pat Vincent-Collawn. “Lynn’s visionary leadership and steadfast commitment to excellence have always exemplified the very best our industry has to offer, and this well-deserved award recognizes the lasting impact she has had throughout her distinguished career.”
Before becoming CEO of Duke Energy in 2013, Good served as the company’s chief financial officer and led its commercial energy business through its early adoption of renewable energy projects. She began her career in the industry in 2003 with Cincinnati-based Cinergy, which merged with Duke Energy in 2006. Prior to 2003, Good was a partner at two international accounting firms.
Under Good’s leadership, Duke Energy has been a global leader in transforming customer operations and engagement programs, enhancing emergency response capabilities, and fostering the partnerships needed to accelerate modern policy solutions. In 2017, Duke Energy adopted a 10-year vision to build a smarter, more resilient energy grid and to deploy cleaner energy resources and emissions reduction technologies.
Good also has committed significant time throughout her career to ensuring industry excellence. She serves on the board of the World Association of Nuclear Operators and is past chair of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations, which promotes the highest levels of safety and reliability in nuclear energy operations. She also has served on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s advisory council, co-chairing the Customer Experience and Service Delivery Subcommittee and providing strategic recommendations to government officials on a range of domestic security matters.
