Saluting Our Nation's Veterans
Saluting Our Nation's Veterans
This Veterans Day, EEI and our member companies will join the rest of America in saluting the brave men and women who have served our nation.
For many military members, transitioning to civilian life can be a challenge. Electric companies across the country have a longstanding history of hiring veterans who possess unique skills that make them highly qualified candidates for a number of jobs within the energy industry.
Working with our nation’s energy companies, the Center for Energy Workforce Development (CEWD), in partnership with former EEI President and CEO Tom Kuhn and former Dominion Energy Chairman, President, and CEO Tom Farrell, created the Troops to Energy Jobs program to help veterans transition to successful energy careers.
Veterans in Energy (VIE), an organization founded by veterans, provides support and professional development and networking opportunities to veterans working in the energy industry.
Veterans’ extensive military experiences and skills make them well-positioned for energy jobs that are active, hands-on, and rewarding in an industry that is continuously growing. For those who like to be outdoors, there are lineworker jobs. For those who learn specialized skills in the military, there are opportunities such as IT and cybersecurity jobs. Those are just a couple examples of the many opportunities available for veterans in the energy industry.
