Celebrating National Lineworker Appreciation Day
July 2024
On July 10, EEI joined the International Brotherhood of Electric Workers (IBEW) and the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) in celebrating National Lineworker Appreciation Day.Celebrated annually, National Lineworker Appreciation Day honors the life and work of Henry Miller, the first IBEW president, and our nation’s more than 100,000 electrical lineworkers. These dedicated lineworkers often work around the clock and in dangerous conditions following hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, winter storms, and other extreme weather events to ensure that the customers and the communities they serve have access to safe and reliable electricity. Lineworkers also maintain and enhance the energy grid and are playing a critical role in delivering the resilient clean energy future.
“EEI and our member electric companies salute our nation’s lineworkers and the incredibly important work they do every day,” said EEI President and CEO Dan Brouillette. “In the face of disaster, lineworkers stand ready to support and to rebuild, dedicating their lives to restoring electricity and hope to the customers and communities they serve. They are heroes, and we are grateful for their commitment to keeping the lights on.”
EEI and our partners were proud to stand alongside more than 160 members of Congress who observed this year’s National Lineworker Appreciation Day by co-sponsoring resolutions to honor America’s lineworkers. EEI and our organized labor partners also joined with some of the congressional co-sponsors for a reception on Capitol Hill in honor of National Lineworker Appreciation Day.
